Consider WHY it’s important that
ALL Earthworks Survive.
This image of the Serpent Mound was created with remote sensing techniques called LIDAR. So far you have thought out what your Earthwork means and how to build it. What happens generations from now? View this video about how the Earthworks in Ohio are considered a wonder.
Assuming you spent a lifetime to organize the building of this wonder of the future world, how would you argue to future peoples that your Earthwork is significant, meaningful, and worth maintaining?
- Is it the size that makes it powerful?
- The accuracy?
- The symbolism?
- Or is it the combinations of all of these things?
Record a short video, write a story or make a flyer or poster that promotes your Earthwork as worthy of future maintenance. For ideas view the World Heritage Center website. Notice all the heritage landmarks or sites that have been built all over our planet. Document your process in doing this challenge and the resources you used such as book titles, authors, website links.
Some examples are found on the World Heritage Sites web pages, which provide a visual and interactive global map of sites that are in danger of destruction and also features sites that have successfully been preserved.
